Various
governmental security agencies have notified us
that there will be significant restrictions
imposed upon hotel guests staying in hotels
located in the Pennsylvania Avenue corridor
between the Capitol and the White House during
the hours of 12:01 AM and 11:59 PM on Tuesday,
January 20, 2009. These restrictions will
include, but not be limited to, a total
restriction on the bringing of luggage or other
transported items, except for certain person
items, into the identified area.
As more information
is made available to us we will post updates to
this section of our website. In the meantime,
we are recommending to all of our guests that
they make arrangements to have all items needed
for their stay, on or for the 20th of January,
already in our hotel prior to 12:01 AM on the
20th.
As it stands right now, only one entrance to
our hotel will be available for use during
most or all of the day on Tuesday, January
20th, and this will be on the E Street side
of our building; all of our entrances on
both 11th Street and 12th Street will be
restricted as they open into what will be
the restricted security zone. While there
are two possible entrances for us to use on
the E Street side, we have been told
only one will be active, and it will be
clearly marked from both inside and the
outside of the hotel. Since all guests of
the Hotel Harrington (and this includes all
restaurant, bar, and hotel guests) will be
required to use just one outside entrance to
the hotel, planning should be considered a
priority by all hotel guests in an attempt
to minimize the number of trips taken in and
out of the hotel on Inauguration Day,
January 20.
